Best of 2010
Oh, 2010… How will you be remembered?
I’ve made my share of mistakes. Chased a few rabbits down long and winding holes. But I made it through… and a smile still lives in my heart. So in the end, I chalk it up as a “success.”
To honor you, 2010, I share the lessons, the highlights and the gifts of a crazy year of experimenting, exploring and expecting miracles.
Best Music Discovery of 2010:
This fall, I launched a 6-week pilot program called “Convergence.” it was a response to an urge to get back to nature to connect with Spirit. I featured a different musical guest each week. My talented cousin Beth Wood (who also released an INCREDIBLE new album in 2010) turned me on to Christine Kane. Talking to her gave me goosebumps. In 2010, her song “Virginia“ became my new anthem!
Best Business Resource:
You just never know when you’re in the presence of angels. Terri Maxwell of Succeed on Purpose graciously offered her space at her business incubator suites in Los Colinas, Texas to host an introduction to “What If Upping.” She sat in on my presentation, and has taken the principles to budding entrepreneurs throughout the metroplex. Her programs are THE BEST if you’re thinking of starting a new business (or if you’re just looking for your PURPOSE and how to EXPRESS IT in your life.) Looking forward to working with her more in 2011.
Most Proud Achievement:
Three years in the making, my new book “What If It All Goes RIGHT!” hit the virtual shelves on Amazon this December, 2010. It’s been the basis of a very fun video series for consciously creating the new year and has already been shipped to readers in more than a dozen countries. Possible translations into Hebrew and Polish in 2011!
Greatest Spiritual High:
I attended this year’s special Anniversary Celebration at Unity Church of the Hills… The music was electrifying, but what touched me most was seeing so clearly how the efforts of each individual make such a profound difference in the lives of so many. Here’s to dreaming big dreams, and playing full out! Truly, we are all connected!
Best advice:
Many of you joined me this summer for a non-stop click-a-thon as part of the launch of the new Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). I reached out to my Facebook community to ask for advice in making things happen. One person responded with a bit of advice that was passed down from her father. Instead of trying harder, she recommended that I “try softer.” Ahhhh… that feels so much better!
Most endearing moment –
We have a family tradition of dressing up on Halloween as a “family theme.” One year, Jenna and I were butterflies, and Shawn was the butterfly catcher. This year, Jenna wanted to be a ballerina. So my “up-for-anything” husband donned some tights and a “tutu.” He was the talk of the neighborhood!
Best Mom Moment –
My 3-year old was coloring on the floor next to my desk in my office. “What are you working on, Honey?” I asked.
“It’s a promise card,” she responded without hesitation.
“Really?” I asked. “What are you promising?”
She replied, “To be your friend forever.” Motherhood tops the list for the best things about 2010.
Most Impactful Book-
In 2010, I re-read Walden by Henry David Thoreau. I savored it. I’ve tried to really step into his philosophy to “Simplify, simplify, simplify!”
It has been a great focusing tool, and a beautiful reminder to get out into nature and enjoy marching to the beat of my own drummer.
Most Self-Nurturing Moment –
I took a break from a ridiculously over-committed month to visit my friends at Co-Creator Network for their “Oneness Blessing” at Enchanted Rock. As fate would have it, I wasn’t able to find them until late in the day. Turns out, a solitary hike to the top of the world was just what I needed. This is sacred land… Hope you get a chance to see the view from the top in 2011!
Biggest Ah-Ha of 2010
Balance and Clarity. They go together. I’m not setting 2011 Resolutions to lose weight or exercise or take time for myself. My big ah-ha of 2010 is that when I commit to clarity – when the most important thing to me is that I can tune in to my “Divine Wisdom” – I will naturally choose to exercise, drink lots of water, eat healthier, etc. I guess I’m starting to get a clearer glimpse of what it means to “seek first the kingdom and all things will be given unto you.”
Hope 2010 was filled with jewels of learning, growth and LOVE… And that all that you gained will provide the tools and the foundation to make 2011 the best year ever…
Happy New Year, friends!
