What if we remember?
My mother is notorious for burning the dinner rolls for family holiday dinners. It’s one of my favorite memories. That along with snuggling by the fireside in my jammies while my grandfather recited his favorite poetry… and feeling the joy of anticipation as my siblings and I bounded down the hall on Christmas morning to see what Santa had left in our stockings.
What if we slow down enough during the holidays to reflect on our most cherished memories?
What if rekindling these special moments brings our loved ones close to us once again in our minds and hearts?
What if we light a candle tonight for the people who have made the holidays special for us throughout our lives? What if we pass our favorite traditions on to future generations?
“We do not remember days. We remember moments.”
- Cesare Pavese
Longfellow wrote: “…Read from the treasured volume the poem of thy choice, and lend to the rhyme of the poet the beauty of thy voice…” Nobody could do this like my Grandad. This was one of his favorites: http://bit.ly/gCMe5F
